POINT GUARD/GUARD PLAY

The clinic will focus on all facets of point guard and guard play, including: 

TEAM SKILLS

• Running an offense
• Decision-making
• Being a team leader
• Being an effective communicator
• Penetrating to create for teammates
• Reading the defense
• Perimeter defense
• Moving without the ball

INDIVIDUAL SKILLS

• Intense ball-handling development
• Finishing multiple ways around the basket
• Mid-range jump shooting
• Three-point shooting
• Shooting off-the-catch
• Shooting off-the-bounce
• 1 foot and 2 foot finishes
• Passing
• Free throw shooting

COACH CHRISTINA BATASTINI

Christina Batastini is the head instructor with over twenty year’s experience. She played and coached professionally in Europe, played for #1 ranked and NCAA Final Four team Stanford University, coached at Brown University, and was named a high school Parade and Nike All-American. She has a Masters in Education from Harvard University and is a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach.

COACH DAVID NYBLOM

She is joined by Hope High School boy's varsity coach, David Nyblom, who has over 35 years' experience coaching.  He is a USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach.  Most recently, he was a lead coach at WBSC International Basketball Camp in Italy and the National Phenom America Camp in San Diego, CA.  He was the camp director at the international Horsholm 79ers Professional Basketball Club Camp in Denmark, and has overseen camps at University of Rhode Island, Boston College, Providence College, Brown University, Southern New England College, Slamma Jamma, Hoop Mountain, and The Hoop Group.
